On January 21st, the Aquarius new moon provides us with a fresh beginning. Not only are we starting a new lunar cycle, but Imbolc is fast approaching as well. This ancient festival marks the first sightings of spring and offers rich invitations for rebirth. We’re planting the seeds for creation and what better sign to usher us into the next chapter than Aquarius, the visionary. With Jupiter at play, our future visions should serve our highest expansion. Growth is available to those who have the courage to explore their authentic truths and create from this space. Pluto challenges us to break free from traditional outlooks that do not serve our evolution, and transform shadow around individuality. Now is the time to do things differently, take action towards our visions, and do our part to progress society forward.

The Aquarius new moon forms a sextile to Jupiter in Aries, the warrior. Jupiter is the planet of wisdom, higher knowledge, and truth. Within the sign of Aries, this is an invitation to connect with our individuality and what Self, with a capital “S”, means to us personally. It’s an opportunity to explore our own truth and courageously advocate for it. This placement is a reminder that we are the heroes on our own hero’s journeys, the leaders in our own lives. No one knows our truth or can act on behalf of it like we can. This is an invitation to activate the warrior within and cultivate the strength to advocate for Self. It’s also a call to notice things that inspire passion, excitement, and enthusiasm within us, recognizing them as guiding forces as we create our future visions. The Aquarius new moon reminds us that our truth may not align with societal outlooks. It may require courage to go against the grain, do things differently, and break “rules”.

Pluto in Capricorn makes a conjunction to the Aquarius new moon. On March 23rd, it will end its transit through Capricorn which started in 2008, and will enter into Aquarius. This placement further emphasizes death, rebirth, and transformation as we approach Imbolc. This is a generational rebirth on a collective scale. However, on an individual level, this is also an opportunity for deep shadow work - to reach into the underworld of our psyche’s and meet the fears that hide the authentic self. To shine a light on the parts of us that perpetuate old patterns and keep us small in fear of owning our true power. This is about working with the sides of us that are afraid to break the mold, be different, and just want to ‘fit in’ instead of embracing who we are as unique individuals. Within the sign of Capricorn, these fears could potentially stem from old traditions/rules, faulty foundations, patriarchal systems, conventional outlooks and more. Shadows can also pertain to career, success, purpose and accomplishments.

Mars forms a trine to the Aquarius new moon. This is an invitation to initiate new projects and start creating momentum towards our future visions. Out-of-the-box thinking, problem solving, and taking action on innovative ideas that ignite passion within us is encouraged - especially ones that push society forward. Furthermore, this is a great time to think about our core authentic values as indicators for how we’re here to serve the collective. As we sculpt our future visions, it’s worth thinking about our part in creating change in the world. Aquarius is the humanitarian and it highlights causes that we deem worthy of fighting for. Joining progressive movements or finding groups of like-minded people that support larger causes is a great way to honor this new moon. This planetary cycle is also great for socializing and including others on your journey to manifesting your vision. Aquarius honors and celebrates everyone's differences as it knows that it takes all kinds of unique people to make the dream a reality.

Happy Aquarius new moon!
