Before the Olympians ruled the skies and before the Titans fell, there was Theia.

Most people haven’t heard of Theia. She’s not one of the Olympians, and she doesn’t have a dramatic myth that involves saving mankind or seducing heroes. But she’s there, in the background, in the bones of the stories we do know. And in a world obsessed with what's loud and obvious, Theia reminds us that there’s power in the quiet.

Theia is one of the original twelve Titans, the daughter of Gaia and Uranus. She ruled over sight, foresight, and the divine light that gives things their shimmer and value. Gold, silver, gems, and even celestial light are her domain. If it glows, she’s in it.

But Theia’s sight isn’t just about what the eyes can take in. It’s perception, discernment, and vision for what’s ahead. Foresight, not just in the prophetic sense, but in knowing what has value before anyone else does. She sees the long game and she recognizes worth before the world catches on.

She’s also the mother of Helios (Sun), Selene (Moon), and Eos (Dawn).  Through her children, Theia gives us time, rhythm, the turning of the day. She births the light, but doesn’t need to stand in it.

When I think about working with Theia, I think about those moments when we're standing at a crossroads, and we're trying to tell the difference between your fear and your intuition. When you're holding something in your hands and wondering if it’s gold or fool’s gold. When you know what’s coming, but you’re waiting for the world to catch up.

Theia helps with that.

She’s a guide for seeing clearly—both what’s right in front of you and what’s around the corner. She doesn’t scream the answers. She just helps you recognize what you already know.

Here are some ways to work with her:

  • Sit with your uncertainty. Light a candle, gold, white, or even black if you’re feeling it, and ask yourself: What do I already know?

  • Use her energy when you’re trying to make sense of your own vision. Whether it's a creative idea, a future plan, or just a gut feeling that won’t let go, lean into Theia.

  • Work with stones like sunstone, goldstone, or clear quartz...things that catch the light and hold it.

  • Journal about what you saw coming but didn’t trust. That’s where her lessons tend to live.

Theia won’t give you a lightning bolt epiphany. She’s not about flash. She’s about clarity that builds, the kind of knowing that settles into your bones.
